Glass Countertops

The Elegance Of Glass Countertops

Glass countertops, especially those made of recycled glass are made of glass and cement or petroleum based binding. The glass is most commonly found from homes and businesses and then passes through the recycling before the countertops are made.

The countertops are installed in kitchens, bathrooms and workspaces and in most cases they are placed upon storage units for the added support.   The ergonomic height of the people who will use it is the main focus for the height it will be placed on.

The argument whether to use cement or petroleum as the binding solution is quite aggressive. Some say that petroleum is not as resistant which decreases the lifetime of the counter.   Cement is known for its durability.   The advantage of petroleum though is that it needs to be sealed a couple of times a year and this is the same for cement binders.

Kitchen tops are often installed on free standing islands or on dining areas.   Stoves and sinks are installed on them and there is place for other kitchen equipment to be stored on the countertops.

When choosing a glass countertop, one can choose between tempered glass, crafted glass and textured glass pieces. Glass is very hygienic and stain-proof. It is extremely heat resistant and easy to clean.

Recycled glass made up of post consumer glass and post industrial glass is crushed or cut into strips and then gets built into a solid form.   Clients are allowed to be very actively involved in the end result they desire from the crushing effect the glass will have on the countertop.

When there is a desire to change the look of the kitchen, but the budget does not allow for an entire new look, one can start off by replacing the countertop with a modern, glass countertops made from either plain glass or stained, decorated glass. Its benefits of hygiene and ease to clean speak for itself.
